Knives Out was in my top ten films of last year. The film didn’t win any Oscars, the originality of the movie allowed for multiple viewings due to the storytelling, eccentric characters, mystery, and camerawork.
In this “whodunnit” mystery movie, the central character is the private detective Benoit Blanc hired to solve a murder. He uncovers a web of lies from the clues that lead two multiple twists and turns.
A more important character to the story should be credited to Marta, the Uruguayan/Paraguayan/Brazilian (who knows?) house nurse, who assisted the detective and police in the search for truth.
Cuban actress Ana de Armas played Marta as the normalizing figure amongst an eccentric deceitful family. Her character struggles through the truths, the lies, and the secrets. The online presence was as equal as Daniel Craig’s Benoit Blanc, or perhaps even more.
LRM Online secured an exclusive clip about Ana de Armas as Marta in the promotion of Knives Out. The clip has interviews with cast members with Chris Evans, Jamie Lee Curtis, and director Rian Johnson.
The film also stars Michael Shannon, Don Johnson, Toni Collette, LaKeith Stanfield, Christopher Plummer, Katherine Langford, Jaeden Martell, and Riki Lindhome.
Here’s the official synopsis:
The circumstances surrounding the death of crime novelist Harlan Thrombey are mysterious, but there’s one thing that renowned Detective Benoit Blanc knows for sure—everyone in the wildly dysfunctional Thrombey family is a suspect. Now, Blanc must sift through a web of lies and red herrings to uncover the truth.
Knives Out is available on 4K UHD, Blu-ray, DVD, and digital download today.
