Knives Out Star Jamie Lee Curtis Is Not A Fan Of Movie-Spoiling Trolls

This past Thanksgiving weekend so a tremendous turnout and performance by four original films. While the box office champ was once again the Disney blockbuster sequel Frozen II, the rest of the top 5 was owned by original intellectual properties that weren’t a sequel or tied to a franchise. Coming in second for the weekend, making just over $27 million, was the Rian Johnson-directed who-dun-it murder mystery with the ensemble cast Knives Out.

Featuring such names as Daniel Craig, Jamie Lee Curtis, Toni Collette, Chris Evans, Michael Shannon, Don Johnson, LaKeith Stanfield, Christopher Plummer, and more, Knives Out has made $70 million worldwide and is enjoy a steady 96% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes (as well as a 93% audience score). With this seemingly deserving buzz around the film comes those trolls who look to spoil the film for those who eagerly want to see it but haven’t had the chance to make it to the theaters yet. These grotesque beings residing under the bridge of social media look to quickly bellow their take on a film into the open, without any sort of warning or “spoiler alert” to the masses.

To be clear, this is not in regards to a film review or long-form critique on a film. These are unwelcome, fortuitous comments in a thread that seeks only to spoil a potential viewer.

As one of the acting legends in the film, Curtis has made her opinion felt regarding those who seek to spoil Knives Out for those who haven’t seen it yet. Reader discretion is advised; Curtis did not hold back.

“It’s a weird power trip. I know something you don’t know, and somehow it elevates you, but in fact it diminishes you greatly, if you really think about it. Because it makes you very small to ruin the delicious surprise… It’s like going up to someone and going, ‘You’re having a surprise party’ Well, fuck you!”

As a fan of Curtis’ for quite some time now, this writer appreciates not only the point she is making, but also the manner in which she delivered the message. Classic JLC.
