According to the Buzz over the weekend, Kumail Nanjiani joins the DCU as its Booster Gold. Booster Gold is a series announced for the new DCU. However, I doubt anyone was expecting Nanjiani, who is already one of the Eternals in the MCU. Of course, that’s if this is true, always take any rumors with a pinch of salt.
The information comes from Nexus Point News, who have been leaking a lot lately and had some wins. They claims Nanjiani has agreed to play Booster for James Gunn and Peter Safran’s Booster Gold in the DCU. As pet the outlet;
‘We have exclusively learned that Kumail Nanjiani has landed the role of Booster Gold in the DC Universe. Nanjiani is currently set to portray the character in the upcoming DC Studios’ series, Booster Gold, one of the upcoming entries of the highly anticipated DCU. Nanjiani is best known for his roles as Dinesh on HBO’s Silicon Valley, his fictionalized take on himself in his semi autobiographical feature, The Big Sick, and as Kingo in Marvel Studios’ Eternals.’

Weirdly I think Nanjiani will make a good Booster, there’s a cockiness he can pull off. That being said, I really dislike the character of Booster Gold. Always hated when he showed up in the comics I read or any of the animates shows I watched as a kid. So, Am I saying Najiani will be good, because I can see him annoying me like Booster does? I’m not sure. I didn’t think much of Kingo in Eternals and I hated Nanjiani’s character in Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire. Though, to be fair, I hated everyone’s character on that movie.
Either way, first let’s see if this casting news checks out. No word from James Gunn yet, but that may happen, either way. I’m looking forward to the new DCU and Superman looks great so far. I just don’t think I’ll get excited for a Booster Gold show. I’d love to be proved wrong though and it ends up great.
