Sons of Anarchy knew Jax Teller’s fate long before his last ride, but according to show creator Kurt Sutter, fans may be getting more motorcycle madness involving the Teller family. Speaking on Tom Arnold’s 100% Honest Podcast, Kurt Sutter says that he sees Sons of Anarchy as a four-part story:
“I have a sense of Sons being four chapters. If ‘Sons‘ was the first chapter, then I see the Mayans as the second chapter. [The new show is] present day, it’s after the death of Jax Teller.”
Speaking about a prequel involving Jax’s father, John Teller:
“The First 9 — it would begin in Vietnam with John Teller and Piney Winston and it would be about them coming back to America, and ideally to do each episode have a new member join but end it at the end of that so that maybe at that point Gemma’s there but it’s before Jax is born.”
While I am excited to see what Mayans MC has to offer (always loved the character of Marcus Alvarez), the story of John Teller is one fans want the most.

Sutter also has hopes of using the Mayans MC spin-off as a way to potentially segway into a prequel series:
“I think at some point we’ll find a way to shine a little light on perhaps John Teller’s manuscript, if the Mayans, if we’re lucky enough to continue, and then what I would do is not directly, but I would use that as a potential launching point to do the prequel.”
Talks of ‘The First 9’ have been around ever since SOA ended in 2014, and while Sutter has some great ideas, nothing appears to be official except for Mayans MC, though the story of John Teller is one that seems inevitable to tell.
