Writer-Director Damien Chazelle may have had a near-Best Picture winner with his most recent film, La La Land (which ended up with six Academy Awards), but he’s by no means resting on his laurels. In addition to his Neil Armstrong biopic that he’s hard at work on, he’s also got a TV project in the works.
Variety has reported that Apple has given a straight-to-series for Chazelle’s latest project. Chazelle will be on board to write and direct every episode of the series, and he’ll also serve as executive producer. Sadly, the actual details for this are nonexistent.
However, an announcement like this proves that Apple is getting series about getting into the original content creation game. They’ve already made their intentions clear in the past, but in locking down the likes of Chazelle, it should give us an idea of the caliber of content they plan on making.
This new project isn’t Chazelle’s first TV project. Late last year, it was announced that Chazelle would be directing some episodes of the Netflix original musical drama series The Eddy. As such, it’s clear that Chazelle is really striking while the iron’s hot, and working in as many different avenues as possible.
