Yesterday Todd Phillips and Warner Bros. Pictures announced the release date of Joker: Folie à Deux. The sequel to the very successful Joker sequel starring Joaquin Phoenix. Notice anything special about the teaster? Besides the fact that it literally says “GAGA” on it. It is also set to the music of “Cheek to Cheek”. A song that Lady Gaga covered alongside Tony Bennett. It had been reported back in June that Warner Bros. has been looking to cast her in the role of Harley Quinn. Around the same time, Phillips posted a cover of the screenplay which revealed the name, Joker: Folie à Deux. As well as an image of Phonix taking a look at it.
The title “Folie à Deux”, refers to a shared delusional disorder. The only female companion that comes to mind, is Harley Quinn. It is important to note that the teaser does not confirm that Gaga is playing Harley. She could be just a character “inspired by” or someone different altogether. But Harley has been a powerhouse for DC, to the point that Jim Lee had called her one of the pillars of the DC Universe along with Batman, Superman, and Wonder Woman. Which then would make sense why she could be included here.
