Star Wars Lando Writer Gives Update On Series… Unfortunately It Is Not Good

Justin Simien, the talented director behind the upcoming Haunted Mansion film and writer of the highly anticipated Lando Calrissian series on Disney+, recently shared some insights about the progress of the Star Wars universe show. While it has been nearly three years since the announcement of the series, details have been scarce, leaving fans eager for updates.

In a recent interview with The Direct, Simien opened up about the current status of the show, expressing that he has not received any new information since the previous update. He shared that he dedicated significant time and effort to crafting a remarkable show, and the response from those involved has been overwhelmingly positive. However, due to scheduling constraints, he was informed that the project would be put on hold. Unfortunately, he hasn’t received any further updates on its progress since then.

As fans eagerly await further updates on the Lando series, it’s clear that both Justin Simien and Donald Glover are passionate about bringing this iconic Star Wars character back to the screen. With their dedication and the ongoing support from Lucasfilm, let’s hope it’s only a matter of time before Lando Calrissian takes center stage once again, thrilling fans with his charismatic presence and captivating adventures in a galaxy far, far away.

Remeber it was Lucasfilm President Kathleen Kennedy who first unveiled the Lando series during Disney Investor Day in December 2020, revealing that Simien would be leading the project centered around the beloved character played by Donald Glover in Solo: A Star Wars Story. However, since then, there have been limited updates regarding the series, with Kennedy mentioning earlier this year that it was still in development. When Kennedy gives the “it’s still in development” line we might as well just write it off.

I guess we can add Lando to the list of announced shows or films that were presented at the Disney Investor Day that won’t be produced. The list now includes Children of Blood and Bone, Star Wars: A Droid Story, Rangers of the New Republic, and Rogue Squadron.
