Nickelodeon announced back in December 2019 that Legends of the Hidden Temple would be returning. The kids’ game show came out in 1993 and lasted till 1995. The show will be coming back, but the new version is ‘being reimagined to appeal to an older demographic.’

The show was going to be placed on the mobile-only streaming service, Quibi, but the streaming service shut down on December 1, 2020. Quibi Titles are now under The Roku Channel when you go to the Quibi site. You can get information on their casting application site, legendscasting.com. The show is scheduled to begin filming in July.

The show from the 90s is about teams of 2 people competing against 6 teams in elimination challenges and the final team continues on to search for the artifact in the Hidden Temple. Additionally, they made a movie in 2016. The movie, Legends of the Hidden Temple, didn’t do so well with a score of 42% on Rotten Tomatoes and a 5.8 on IMDB.
Other Shows Like This
I don’t see why this is necessary. Netflix renewed its show, Floor is Lava, and Wipeout has changed hosts to John Cena and Nicole Byer. Do we need a reboot of an obstacle course show? I think we have enough obstacle course shows and I don’t think it can last on nostalgia. Maybe they have some ideas to make the show fresh and exciting.
