You Are All A Bunch Of Idiots

We now know why Eobard is after the Spear of Destiny and why he needs The Legion Of Doom.  It seems that Eobard Thawne needs the spear to rewrite history to put him back in existence.  While putting himself back into existence Eobard is being chased by Black Flash, which is a speedster that was created from Zoom’s downfall to The Flash.  While Malcolm Merlyn and Damien Darhk are trying to change their destiny as well it seems Eobard has more on the line that the others.

The central part of this episode was Eobard, Damien, and Malcolm trying to get Rip to remember where the other parts of the Spear of Destiny are located.  Each of their tactics to try and get the information from Rip comes up short because of his brain being completely wiped out from the beginning of the season.  Ultimately it is a piece of technology locked away in a safety deposit box that is going to bring Rips memories back.  Not before Eobard alters Rips memories to change some major historical events.

The secondary story of this episode focused on the entire team realizing that Professor Stein created an aberration with his daughter.  This story seemed rushed and out of place for this episode.  While the realization of Stein’s daughter was a shock to the team, it did not seem to a story line that carried any weight.  With the team after a speedster who is altering the time line it seemed a small event for the team to realize he accidentally created a daughter.  Although necessary to address this was not the right episode to address it.

As much as Stephen Amell and Grant Gustin mean to the Arrowverse, John Barrowman mean just as much.  That is why without him in The Legion of Doom it would not carry the weight as it does on the show.  This episode was carried solely on John Barrowman’s performance and proving that he is such a critical part to all of these shows.

Overall this episode was a great example of how the CW/DC Universe could have a show focused solely on villains.  With the members of the Legion of Doom focused on their own individual goals it took a brain washed Rip Hunter to remind them of the ultimate goal.  While we still have seen the complete Legion of Doom together, one can only imagine what Captain Cold will bring to the team.
