The Hobbit novel is returning with one extra ingredient — Andy Serkis.

Andy Serkis will forever be associated with the world of Middle-earth. He brought the character of Gollum to life in a way that no one expected. Even today, the performance he gave holds up. His iconic voice for the former ring bearer has become a pivotal aspect of how the character is perceived by the mainstream. Serkis returned to the role in the Hobbit film adaptation, but it looks like he’ll be returning once again.

This news comes courtesy of HarperCollins UK. That’s right. Andy Serkis will be reading an all-new audiobook edition of The Hobbit from J.R.R. Tolkien. The publisher took to social media to not only share the news, but to give audiences a two-minute clip of what to expect.

This new edition of the audiobooks is set to hit Audible on September 3, 2020 in the UK. But if that’s too long for you to wait, the book is available for you to preorder at your earliest. Sadly, in the States, you’ll have to wait a bit longer — until September 21. Still, it’s not as though the book hasn’t been around for decades for us to enjoy. You’ll just have to wait a bit longer to hear it from Serkis’ own mouth.
