Live-Action Justice League: Rebirth Film On The Way To Shepherd In J.J. Abrams | LRM’s Barside Buzz

Justice League: Rebirth could be on the way?

Ever since Batman v Superman hit theaters back in 2016, many fans have lamented how underwhelming DC’s shared universe has been. Without a doubt, the DC Extended Universe is nowhere near the hit as the Marvel Cinematic Universe. As such, Warner Bros. has taken a different approach to their universe. They’re not really concerned about continuity these days. Any director can seemingly do whatever they want and each film is tied together by a complex, infinite multiverse.

So, does that mean they’ve pretty much given up on the idea of a fully cohesive universe like Marvel Studios? Well, not completely. We do already know that Flashpoint is likely going to do some soft resetting, but that may not be all. If this new rumor is true, we could be looking at a complete REBIRTH of the DC Extended Universe.

That’s right. Comic book readers know what I’m talking about. In the early 2010s, DC tried to reboot the entire DC lineup with the New 52 comics. They later reconnected all the timelines and whatnot with Rebirth. So, why am I mentioning Rebirth?

According to DCEU Mythic, Warner Bros. has started development on Justice League: Rebirth. This film would presumably be separate from Zack Snyder’s Justice League and would serve as its own separate thing. It is not clear how the film would connect to 2017’s Justice League, but the movie will be live-action.

This next part is speculation from the outlet, but they point to J.J. Abrams as being someone Warners could approach to helm the project. They also state they may be interested in having Birds of Prey scribe Christina Hodson write it. If this does happens, this could reposition those two to be the Kevin Feige of the new DCEU Rebirth Universe. Of course, this is all based on an early rumor and full of tons of conjecture, but it is an interesting thought.

We already know J.J. Abrams has expressed interest in Superman, so perhaps a Justice League film could be a better way to go. If nothing else, it’s a good way to go after taking on other big franchises like Star Trek and Star Wars.

But what does this mean of Zack Snyder’s universe? I know many fans were hoping his Snyder Cut of Justice League would lead to more films along the lines of his vision. This indicates that Warners is at least considering pushing forward in another direction. That being said, who’s to say they need to commit to one direction? For all we know, they’ll be down to pursue multiple DC timelines over the years.

That’s one way for the DC Extended Universe to stand out. How do you feel about this Justice League: Rebirth rumor? Sound off down below!
