Marvel’s Joe Russo On Justice League Snyder Cut

Jim lee Confirms No Plans For SnyderVerse Going Forward At DC

Joe Russo on Justice League Snyder Cut, and why he never had these issues with Marvel. Read on for more details.

By now everyone knows the Snyder Cut of Justice League is coming. Let’s face it, it would have to be awful to seem worse than the theatrical version. But I also don’t think this Snyder Cut is going to revolutionize the film industry or win Snyder all the Oscars ever, like some fans seem to. I just hope we get a movie that’s genuinely worth paying attention to.

I’d rather see a director’s vision and judge the movie the way that director envisioned it. Going by Snyder’s previous DCEU movies, I won’t be a gushing fan, but I want to see it. Snyder has received a lot of support from his peers for this opportunity. The latest to offer their support is Avengers: Endgame co-director Joe Russo. The folks over at CBM caught up with Joe Russo recently and he spoke about the Justice League Snyder Cut.

“I think it’s always great when a director’s original vision can find its way to the screen. We have been very, very fortunate in our careers that everything we did for Marvel, we would call our director’s cuts. They were very gracious and deferential, and very supportive of our vision for those movies, and there’s nothing sitting on the editing room floor that we suddenly want back into those films. We worked very hard at what the current cut of those movies are, so we’re very fortunate to have released our director’s cut on all four of those films.”

Perhaps this could be touted as the main difference between Marvel and DC right now, or Disney and WB if you prefer? However, things were not always so. Christopher Nolan had a lot of control over his Dark Knight movies. Snyder’s extended cut of BvS was superior, but that movie still had a tough time. If BvS had been met with critical praise and great box office numbers? Well, I don’t think WB would have felt the need to interfere in Justice League, do you?

Marvel also was not always known for supporting the talent. Remember to begin with, there were a lot of rumblings about studio interference. However, I think the more Kevin Feige got control of Marvel Studios, the more talent oriented they became. What is very clear, is that WB made a lot of mistakes with Justice League. Let’s just hope they have learned from them.
