Loki Executive Producer Confirms The Disney+ Series Will Have Huge Time Travel Component

Disney+ launched yesterday for many territories, unfortunately, not my own (sob). The new streaming service is going to have a variety of MCU limited series which will add to the theatrical content we are getting each year, one of the earliest of these series announced was Loki. Whilst we don’t know all that much about what Loki will entail, we do know that this will feature the version of Loki that escaped with the Tesseract in Avengers: Endgame, because the main timeline version of Loki is, of course, dead. There have also been strong rumors since the announcement that this show will feature time travel, as early concept art showed Loki in what appeared to be 1975 New York City.

Now we can confirm that Loki will have a major time travel aspect to the show thanks to executive producer Stephen Broussard. Last night saw the first reveal of Expanding The Universe, a special on Disney+ about all the MCU shows coming to the streaming platform. They showed some concept art for both Falcon and the Winter Soldier, and Hawkeye, but for Loki, Broussard said the following.

“There’s a huge time travel component, there will be a man on the run quality to it and we get the chance to explore more human sides of Loki.”

So that’s that then, hardly a surprise, but nice that he’s said it will be a huge component, and of course, it’s a very different method of time travel from what Tony Stark basically invented in Endgame. One would assume the rules they set up in Endgame will remain the same, and there are hints that Loki’s actions could have an effect on what happens in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, which will also be affected by what happens in WandaVision according to Marvel.

The world of the MCU just got a bit crazier, and a lot bigger than it was before. With as many new shows hitting each year as movies, it really offers Kevin Feige and his team to do things they simply could not have before. First show out the gate should be Falcon and the Winter Soldier, which is currently filming. They did show some concept art of U.S. Agent and he looks very much like Steve Rogers in the costume department, so I am ready to see how all that shakes down, especially with Zemo back in the mix.
