Looks Like The Mandalorian Is Going To Be Around For A While

For a guy that only showed up in the last episode of The Mandalorian Season 1, Giancarlo Esposito sure knows a lot about the future of this show.  Esposito has been very sly when asked about his character in recent interviews by just saying that we will get to see more of Moff Gideon and his backstory.  Well, last night on the People (the TV Show!)‘s Emmy Awards pre-show we got some more information about the future of The Mandalorian.

“We’re living in a universe that is huge and there’s so much to explore, so I think this show is going to lay the ground work for the depth and breath that’s gonna come in season 3 and season 4, where you’re really gonna start to get answers.”

Mandalorian Season 2 Ilum

Giancarlo might have been speaking off the cuff. He might be assuming that The Mandalorian will be around for four seasons.  Even if Esposito is assuming, he may not be that far off.  It was already announced by John Favreau that The Mandalorian had already start pre-production for season three.  Favreau also mentioned in a recent interview with Entertainment Weekly where he stated that this season of The Mandalorian would expand farther than one central storyline.  We reported back in June that the plans for the upcoming Star Wars Disney+ shows were to all be connected through a central story arc.  The concept is that there will be five separate shows that will share a central story.  Various outlets have reported multiple characters rumored for season two doubling the cast for the upcoming season.

It would only make sense for The Mandalorian to expand more than three seasons. Also, Disney is still cashing in on Baby Yoda merchandise. As a fan of Star Wars this is exciting for me, especially since it will be overseen by John Favreau and Dave Filoni.  The first season of The Mandalorian is currently airing on Disney+ with the second season premiering October 30th. What do you think? Are you excited to hear that Mando is planned for the future? Let us know in the comment section below.
