Lord of Misrule | William Brent Bell on Masks, Pagan Lore and Creature Feature

Tuppence Middleton in Lord of Misrule

Director William Brent Bell is a master at the horror craft. With his entire career nearly dedicated to the horror genre, it is a no-brainer for him to helm a rural village horror with Lord of Misrule.

From the screenwriter Tom de Ville (Urban Gothic, The Quite Ones), the horror movie creates a dark setting revolving around the mistrust of neighbors and friends in a small village.

The film stars Tuppence Middleton (The Current War, The Imitation Game), Ralph Ineson (The Witch, The Green Knight), Matt Stokoe (The Hunt for Raoul Moat, Rose), and Evie Templeton (Pinocchio).

Here is the official synopsis:

Directed by William Brent Bell, Lord of Misrule follows Rebecca Holland (Tuppence Middleton), who has recently taken over as priest of a small town. When her young daughter Grace (Evie Templeton) goes missing at the local harvest festival, a desperate search begins. The closer they edge towards finding Grace, the more secrets emerge from the town’s dark past. Soon, Rebecca must decide just how much she is willing to sacrifice to rescue her daughter from the grip of evil.
