LOTR Show Leaks Confirm Late Second Age Setting | Barside Buzz SPOILERS

The Rings Of Power Trailer Is Ready And Rumored To Drop Soon | Barside Buzz

The latest Barside Buzz has LOTR show leaks from Fellowship of Fans that confirm late Second Age setting for the show. Previous leaks from this source had said that Isildur was a main character in the show. However some fans began to wonder about things like multiple timelines. It does appear as though there will be a massive prologue to this show and my guess is perhaps further flashbacks as the show progresses. However it is clear from these latest leaks exactly what timeline we are in here, and it is the late Second Age.

Given now we know where this story is going, I kinda have to be careful of spoiling the story for non-book readers. Therefore check out the latest information posted on social media by FoF below and then I’ll set the stage for how things are in the beginning of the show.

Warning though, you may find this content SPOILS some aspects of the show, so read on at your own risk. Personally I think if you’ve read Tolkien’s unfinished works then there’s no actual spoilers here. However you be the judge before going past the image below.

So we have a very distinct timeline here, and don’t worry I won’t get into actual dates. In this period, Numenor is ruled by a Queen called Miriel. Numenoreans are the most powerful force in Middle-earth. However this is all a long time away from when the Men of Numenor and the Elves were besties. The Numenoreans have grown a little arrogant and after initially having settlements on Middle-earth designed to help their old allies… Well Human’s are Humans.

At the same time Miriel has to deal with many Game of Thrones like machinations to keep her throne. In some ways, there are definite Game of Thrones elements in this period and it is in my opinion, one of the darkest periods in Tolkien’s mythology. I think this stage represents Tolkien exploring the weakness of Men, despite their gifts. Though juxtaposed against the innate power of the Elves along with their dwindling influence and resources. The balance of power has drifted dramatically towards Men in this Age.

However, as always, there are those who will make the right choices, and that’s where eventually Elendil comes in to this story. Book readers all likely know what happens next. But, for those that don’t, I’ll let the show cover it for themselves. What I will say is that I feel like we could be looking at not even seeing Sauron at all in Season 1 other than flashback. I also anticipate several Seasons in order for Amazon to take this story to one of two natural conclusion points.

What do you think of these new LOTR show leaks, and are any Tolkien fans as excited as me?  This is literally the story I would have told given the chance. I am stoked for what this might be with a late Second Age setting. Leave your thoughts on this latest Barside Buzz below.
