Deadline is reporting that Luke Cage star Mike Colter and Black Lightning star Nafessa Williams will be joining the cast of Sony’s cop thriller Black And Blue. The film stars Naomie Harris (Moonlight, Skyfall, Pirates Of The Caribbean: At World’s End) and is directed by Deon Taylor (Traffik, Supremacy). Peter A. Dowling (Sacrifice, Flightplan) penned the screenplay.
Here is the synopsis Deadline gave for the film:
It centers on a rookie New Orleans cop (Harris) who rounds the corner just as corrupt narc officers are murdering a drug dealer, an event captured by her body cam. When they then fail to execute her and she escapes, the narcs pin the murder on her, and she is hunted both by the narcs who are desperate to destroy the incriminating footage and the drug dealers out for revenge.

The film will also co-star Frank Grillo (Brock Rumlow/Crossbones in Captain America: The Winter Soldier and Captain America: Civil War), Reid Scott (Veep), Beau Knapp ( The Nice Guys, Super 8) and Tyrese Gibson (The Fate Of The Furious, Furious 7). While he won’t be playing the same “power man” that his base is accustomed to, fans will most likely be happy to see Colter finding work on the screen. His future projects include Skin for A24 Productions and Before You Know It, which will premiere at Sundance. Meanwhile, Williams has appeared on CBS’ Code Black, Showtime’s Twin Peaks and the Netflix film Burning Sands.
