A new Star Wars comic book due out in May of this year depicts Jedi Master Luke Skywalker wielding a lightsaber. Big deal, right? Expect it’s not blue or green, it’s yellow. The comic is set after The Empire Strikes Back.
Star Wars #6 from Charles Soule and drawn by artist Jesús Saiz, sees Master Skywalker return to where he first dueled his father in Cloud City on Bespin. He has come in search of the blue lightsaber that was lost when his hand was cut off during the duel.
An Official description from Marvel can be found below.
“Set after the events of Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back, writer Charles Soule and artist Jesús Saiz are currently telling the previously unseen adventures of Luke Skywalker, Princess Leia, and the Rebel Alliance in Marvel’s ongoing comic series, STAR WARS. With this exciting new era underway, some of the franchises’ longstanding mysteries are being spotlighted including what happened to the lightsaber Luke lost in his climactic duel with Darth Vader in Cloud City. While the results of Luke’s search remain to be seen, it would appear he eventually obtains a replacement… See the young Jedi ignite a never-before-seen yellow lightsaber on R.B. This isn’t the first time a Jedi has used a yellow-bladed lightsaber, but Luke is probably the most well-known Jedi to use one. I mean Luke using a saber any color other than blue is pretty cool, and it’s as story I would likely enjoy. Disney should tell these stories in animated form, or even live-action. Short but really cool stories that fill in little bits of information for fans.
