Could the next Mad Max film star Chris Hemsworth?
Few people expected Mad Max: Fury Road to be as great as it was. Here was a movie that was delayed an unending amount of times. Even star Tom Hardy didn’t seem to have faith that the film would eventually be a good one. And yet, it turned out to be quite the hit. While it may not have set the box office on fire, it managed to snag quite the array of accolades, including several Oscar wins. It would seem that a sequel to the film was inevitable.
And yet, years have passed, and the next film seems to only be inching along. What’s more is that it’s not a sequel, but rather a prequel that follows a young Furiosa, who was played in Fury Road by Charlize Theron. Few other details have come out about the film, except now we may have an idea of who will be playing the male lead opposite of Furiosa — who remains uncast.
According to The Illuminerdi, Dementus is the film’s male lead. He is 30 to 40 years old and the sides describe him as “breathtakingly handsome. An angel’s face, scarred by a deep forehead wound stitched together with shiny chrome staples.” But who could play him?
The outlet states that Warner Bros. is “very interested” in Chris Hemsworth taking the role. At this point, however, he hasn’t officially signed on. That being said, this is quite fitting. After all, Mad Max is an Australian brand, and Hemsworth is one of the biggest Australian actors under the sun right now. He’d be a great addition to the mythology of Mad Max.
