Director Mads Hedegaard discovered a hidden gem in the arcade world with Kim Cannon Arm. Unbeknownst to most of the world, this arcade gamer intends to set a world record by playing the arcade classic Gyruss for 100 straight hours.
In the documentary Cannon Arm and the Arcade Quest, Hedegaard picked up his camera and headed to Denmark’s arcade retro club Bip Bip Bar to record Kim Cannon Arm and his friends on their journey to break the record.
As a result, he discovers a world of close friendship bonds, quirky personalities, and never-give-up attitudes in their quest.
Here’s the official synopsis:
Cannon Arm and the Arcade Quest follows Kim Cannon Arm, Denmark’s uncrowned king of 1980s arcade games, and a collector of the enormous machines. Together with his friends from the retro club Bip Bip Bar in Copenhagen, he can spend entire evenings playing immortal game classics. But can Kim also keep going for no less than one hundred hours? That is the goal if Kim wants to break the world record. Therefore, he sets out—with tireless support from his gang of faithful friends—to play his way up to the ultimate high score.
