Mallrats is getting a special Blu-ray treatment.
Without a doubt, Kevin Smith is a beloved figure in pop culture. Whether or not you actually like what he does, he has made quite a name for himself in geek spaces. And, for a lot of people, that movie started with Mallrats. Sure, Clerks may have been Smith’s first, but Mallrats was the original wide release that found a cult following on video. It makes sense that the film still pokes and prods the nostalgia glands for film fans.
If this describes you, then you’re in luck. Mallrats is set to have a brand-new Blu-ray release in celebration of its 25th anniversary. Yes, in case you’re not feeling old enough, the film is exactly that old. According to Kevin Smith himself, the release will sport new special features and brand-new box art.
“When it came out in 1995, it was a critically despised box office flop. 25 years later, MALLRATS is getting the @ArrowFilmsVideo treatment! A big fat BluRay is coming your way! With new bonus features and brand new box art featuring familiar faces from the View Askewniverse!”
