Pacific Rim Uprising director Steven S. DeKnight may not be a household name yet, but he’s certainly earned some street cred for his work on the amazing Netflix show Daredevil. With Pacific Rim Uprising, he’s once again working on a piece of genre storytelling, and that’s only made fans’ all the more hungry for him to take on a superhero film.

One Twitter user thought to ask DeKnight outright if he would be up for taking on Man of Steel 2, the long-awaited sequel to the Zack Snyder original.
Here’s what DeKnight had to say:
Up, up and away! https://t.co/A8JIUOS9Mb

This seems to be something of a confirmation that he’d be open to helming the film, right? We certainly think so, but DeKnight himself thinks otherwise. He returned to the social media platform to embellish on his previous tweet, saying:
Good lord. All I said was “Up, up and away” in response to being asked if I’d be interested in directing MOS2. My preference would be to see @ZackSnyder helm the sequel. Love his work. https://t.co/I3U8hEpYVr

So all in all, it doesn’t sound like he’s completely closed off to the idea of Man of Steel 2, but like a lot of Snyder fans, he’d much rather see the polarizing filmmaker return to the film series he started a handful of years back.
Honestly, though, DeKnight would be a great choice. As he’s proven with shows like Daredevil and Spartacus, he’s great at character storytelling, and him bringing his talents to the DC Extended Universe could help to bring much-needed change to Superman.
