Mark Hamill Clarifies His Uncredited Star Wars Cameo

The more recent Star Wars films contain mountains of Easter eggs. As it became clear with Star Wars: The Force Awakens, Lucasfilm was all too eager to accommodate plenty of celebrities in small roles. Perhaps the most famous was Daniel Craig as that one Stormtroooper who released Rey from her binds. But, of course, he wasn’t the only one who threw his talents into the film.

As it turns out, even Mark Hamill was willing to do double duty on the more recent Star Wars: The Last Jedi. As was reported recently, he had a hand in bringing Dobbu Scay — that one alien that tried to stuff coins into BB-8 — to life. But, as it turns out, he didn’t voice the character, as was previously reported.

“It is commonly (& mistakenly) reported that I only did the voice of Dobbu Scay, but I filmed the scene in a full motion-capture suit w/ a giant-sized medicine ball to make me the same size as BB-8. I didn’t expect to be credited, assuming it would be another unbilled easter-egg.”

So there you have it. No, Hamill did not voice the character, but his physicality was indeed captured for the movie, which is still pretty cool.
