Star Wars: Mark Hamill’s Suggestion To Top The Vader Twist From Empire Strikes Back

While it loses some gravity because it’s so well known, the twist in Empire Strikes Back is arguably the best twist in the history of cinema. Imagine being one of the people sitting in the theater, jaw on the floor, absolutely shocked at what just transpired. Nowadays, Darth Vader being Luke’s father is common knowledge, even to folks who aren’t fans of a galaxy far, far away.

Luke Skywalker himself, (although this suggestion seems that it more likely came from his The Last Jedi doppelganger, Jake) Mark Hamill, recently posted on his Twitter account his suggestion to George Lucas for another twist, that would reveal Luke’s other parent to be none other than the bounty hunter, Boba Fett. As you can see in the tweet below, Hamill believed this was one way to top the reveal of Vader being Luke’s father.

Well, I will say that would have been quite unexpected. Could it have been pulled off without seeming ridiculous? I mean, anything is possible I guess, and while it seems like an absurd idea now because we already know the story of Luke’s mother, but perhaps it could have worked back then. It’s like thinking of Tom Selleck playing Indiana Jones, most of us can see no one but Harrison Ford in the role, because that’s what we’ve come to know.
