Mark Millar’s First Comic Book With Netflix Is Announced

Without a doubt Netflix is doing whatever they can to continue to provide exclusive content. This was evident by their acquisition of Millarworld, the comic book publishing company founded by legendary comic book creator Mark Millar. Who has such characters and stories like Kick-Ass, Kingsman and for Marvel Old Man Logan.

Thanks to Variety we have word not on what Millar’s first comic will be under the Netflix banner. It will be a six issue book titled The Magic Order. The artist on the title will be Marvel’s Oliver Coipel who has worked on titles like Thor, The Avengers and The Amazing Spider-Man. This title will be available in comic book stores and digitally in the spring of 2018.

In this story five families of magicians have sworn to protect our world and must face an enemy that is taking them out one by one. They are regular people by day but by night they are sorcerers, magicians and wizards that protect the world from darkness. Millar made this statement about The Magic Order:

“We wanted to make a splash with our first book for Netflix, and this is it, I love dark fantasy and there’s an enormous gap in the market for something like this. Netflix hiring Olivier has also made me the happiest guy alive.”

This is a great starting point for Netflix and Millar as a lot of his work has gone on to inspire films. For example, Kick-Ass and Kingsman. Not to mention that he worked on the story arcs for Marvel that inspired films like Catpain America: Civil War and Logan. Now Netflix can take his stories and hopefully turn them into amazing exclusive content for their streaming service. Does this first title interest you at all? Let us know below!
