In less than a week, audiences will flood theaters to take in a viewing of what will likely be the most epic superhero film nerds have ever seen, Avengers: Infinity War. With the most epic film comes the most menacing villain we’ve seen in the Marvel Cinematic Universe thus far, the purple Titan, Thanos.
Actor Mark Ruffalo, who plays Hulk in the MCU, recently spoke with ScreenRant, and while doing his best not to spoil anything, talked about Hulk’s encounter with Thanos, which if the end of Thor: Ragnarok is any indication, will happen early in the film.
“Well, uh, that’s, that’s tricky. It definitely has ramifications,” he told the outlet. “He’s definitely, he’s never met, uh, another opponent quite like that and um, uh, their first encounter sort of a propels what will be, you know, the rest of these next two movies. So, um, and then what ends up happening between Bruce and The Hulk.”

Ruffalo does his best to tippy-toe around revealing any spoilers, as he has found himself in trouble in the past for doing so. From what Ruffalo says, whatever happens between Thanos and Hulk will set not only Infinity War in motion, but also the follow-up, currently known as Avengers 4. Assuming the encounter happens early in the film and involves the Asgardian ship from the end of Thor: Ragnarok, this may be where Loki turns and begins to serve Thanos. Let the speculation begin!
Avengers: Infinity War will be in theaters everywhere this Friday.
