Legendary director Martin Scorcese is teaming up with rock n roll/folk music icon Bob Dylan for a new Netflix documentary. The new film is titled Rolling Thunder Revue: A Bob Dylan Story by Martin Scorsese. Described as “part documentary, part concert film, part fever dream,” the film will spotlight Bob Dylan’s 1975-76 tour of the same name. You can find an official description of the film below
“Rolling Thunder Revue: A Bob Dylan Story by Martin Scorsese captures the troubled spirit of America in 1975 and the joyous music that Dylan performed during the fall of that year. Part documentary, part concert film, part fever dream, ‘Rolling Thunder’ is a one of a kind experience, from master filmmaker Martin Scorsese.”
This isn’t he first time two greats of their respective industries have worked together. Back in 2005 on another Bob Dylan documentary entitled No Direction Home: Bob Dylan.
Scorcese’s films are widely accepted by cinema fans, notable works include Goodfellas, Raging Bull, Taxi Driver, and The Departed to name a few. Bob Dylan on the other hand is more of an acquired taste within the music world. It took me a while to come around to the music stylings of Dylan, but eventually I did become a fan. Dylan is an unique guy and has one of the most unusual, yet recognizable voices in music.
If you’re a fan of either Scorcese or Dylan, I would recommend giving this film a chance when the time comes. Along with this documentary, Scorcese has two other projects in the works for Netflix, a Second City Television reunion show, and a film called The Irishman.
