In a panel at San Diego Comic-Con, Marvel Comics unveiled a new chapter in the X-Men universe. During the “X-Men: From the Ashes” panel, Editor in Chief C.B. Cebulski, Executive Editor Tom Brevoort, and a team of X-Men creators shared news with fans, including the debut of an all-new solo ongoing series: Psylocke. Set to launch in November, this series promises to deliver a fresh narrative focusing on the beloved character, Psylocke.
Psylocke will be penned by Alyssa Wong, renowned for their work on Star Wars: Doctor Aphra and Deadpool, with artwork by Vincenzo Carratù, the talented artist behind the visually stunning Dracula: Blood Hunt. This new series will delve deep into Psylocke’s complex character, exploring her current role as established in Jed MacKay and Ryan Stegman’s X-Men #1, where she brings her lethal skills to Cyclops’ X-Men team based in Alaska.
While Psylocke plays a vital role in the X-Men’s missions, there are tasks that require her to confront the shadows of her past. Kwannon, having embraced the mantle of Psylocke, emerged as a standout character in titles like Hellions and Uncanny Avengers. Now, she is set to take center stage in her own series, which will not only highlight her relationship with her lover Greycrow but also shed light on her harsh upbringing with the Hand and introduce a formidable new villain, the Taxonomist.
The tagline for the series captures the essence of Psylocke’s journey: “She was made for violence!” Trained as an assassin from birth, Kwannon chose the path of an X-Man. However, certain missions demand a darker touch, ones that only she can undertake alone. When the mission turns brutal, Psylocke unsheathes her blades, targeting those who prey on mutants. Emerging from the pages of X-Men, Psylocke is set to carve out her own space within the Marvel Universe, defying those who seek to control her.

“Everything in her history points her to the path of a villain,” Wong explained. “Her background is so full of tragedy—so why does she choose to be a hero?” Wong promises a dark and emotional character story that will also be immensely enjoyable. “I’m excited to do something super dark,” they added.
Fans can look forward to the release of Psylocke #1 in November, featuring a cover by Mahmud Asrar along with three variant covers. As San Diego Comic-Con continues, more exciting news and updates from Marvel are expected. For further details, visit Marvel.com.
