According to a new rumor, Marvel had big plans for the Venom symbiote in the MCU, until Sony launched the Venom franchise. Though, apparently there are still plans to introduce the black suit for Spider-Man farther down the line. The information comes from Heavy Spoilers in their recent video which we already covered the Secret Wars rumors yesterday.
According to the rumor, Marvel had plans for the black suit to be used in the MCU. When Sony launched their Venom franchise however, this caused a lot of internal issues at Marvel. Plans had to be changed and reportedly Feige himself was key in preventing Tom Holland’s Spider-Man from making a cameo in one of the Venom movies.
In terms of the future, the source claims Marvel still has plans to move towards the black suit story. One wonders, (speculation) if this could happen in Secret Wars? After all, it was in the very first Secret Wars comic that Spider-Man first got his black suit.
One would imagine that the tease in the post-credit scene of No Way Home was there for a reason? Though, outside of Marvel, who can say for sure? Heavy Spoilers does say that symbiote tease will not be paid-off in Spider-Man 4 though.

It is however interesting to note how Venom affected the plans at Marvel Studios. Remember that around the time Venom was releasing both Sony and Marvel thought Tom Holland would not be back in the MCU. Instead due to the reaction by fans and Holland himself, the powers that be in Sony and Marvel managed to make a new deal. Whilst not official, we hear that Holland has signed up for 3 more solo movie and 2-3 team appearances.
It is also expected that Spider-Man 5 and 6 will not materialise until after Secret Wars. Ergo, Spider-Man 5 could be a great place to tell that Black suit story and introduce an MCU version of Venom?
This far out, all this remains to be seen. Plans will be in place. However I’d guess for now those plans are extremely flexible. The focus right now will be on where Spider-Man goes next in the 4th movie and how he fits into the likes of The Kang Dynasty and Secret Wars.
So Marvel had big plans for the Venom Symbiote, until Sony launched Venom. However there are still plans to introduce the black suit Spider-Man in the future.
