New Barside Buzz says Marvel made an offer to an unnamed A-list actor for a recurring role as Barney Barton, AKA Trickshot. This is not the first time we’ve heard a rumor that Clint’s brother Barney would make it into the MCU. He was actually rumored for Hawkeye Season 1. However, if you’ve seen Hawkeye you know there was no Barney. Well according to scooper Daniel RPK on Patreon, Barney will appear in Hawkeye Season 2.
Daniel says this is not a one and done antagonist role in Hawkeye Season 2 and will be for multiple projects. Hence why they’ve gone after a big name actor, or so he’s been told. Obviously without a name it’s hard to quantify this one too much. Perhaps the name will only be revealed once the actor accepts the role?

In the comics, Charles “Barney” Barton looked out for his younger brother Clint as kids. Teaching him how to fight and improve his aim as they dealt with their abusive father. I won’t get into how they became pitted against one another and how Barney became the new Trickshot. For one, I dislike the storyline and two, I cannot see Marvel copying much of that for the MCU.
Being an antagonistic version of Hawkeye did have Trickshot appear in the Dark Avengers at one point. And we have heard Doom is putting together a team, so who knows? Barney is also usually older than Clint. However, I do wonder if that many get reversed in the series to bring in a younger actor?
I guess we will find out if and when Hawkeye Season 2 gets underway.
