Marvel Producer Rules Out Extended Cuts Of Movies On Disney+ For Now

Letitia right confirms there's a Black Panther 3 in development

Marvel producer Nate Moore rules out extended cuts of movies on Disney+, for now at least. Moore was speaking with Collider following the release this weekend of Black Panther: Wakanda Forever. Moore was asked about deleted scenes and confirmed as with all Marvel movies that some scenes never made the final cut, which they tinker with continually.

“A lot of characters have scenes that are great scenes that the movie just couldn’t bear. It’s already a relatively long movie, and we wanted to make sure the movie felt as focused as it could, while doing as much as it’s doing. But there are some deleted scenes that are really cool.”

“I think there’s a spectrum. There’s some from the Director’s Cut that didn’t make it forward. There’s some that we played with for a long time, and screened, and screened multiple times. We’re notorious for tinkering a lot in editorial and trying things. Ryan, by the way, is as well. So, things are in, things are out. “What about this over here?” So, some are closer to completion, some are pretty raw.”

Of course the temptation there is to release these longer cuts. However Moore says Marvel are currently against this idea.

“Yeah, we’ve typically resisted that, and I think we’ll continue to because we like to think we and the filmmakers landed on what the movie should be. So, I don’t know that we’ll ever assemble it – I’ll never say never. I don’t think we’ll assemble it into a longer Director’s Cut. But certainly, I think there’s ways to get those scenes out there in the world without building an extended edition.”

I really don’t think I’d be interested in re-watching Marvel films in a longer cut. They are just not those sort of movies for me. Something like The Lord of the Rings which was already massively overlong and had to make some tough choices make a lot of sense. However, would you re-watch old Marvel movies if they added 4-5 minutes of scenes into them?

What do you think of is comments as Marvel producer Nate Moore rules out extended cuts of movies on Disney+? Do you agree with this stance, or not? Thoughts below as always.
