According to the latest Barside Buzz around the industry, Tom Holland signs a deal for a new Spider-Man trilogy at Marvel Studios. The initial report, as far as I can tell was from TCC. It’s hard to say for certain as this began appearing from a few sources at the same time. Here is the first tease I could find from TCC‘s EIC Lizzie Hill.

Then another TCC writer followed up with news they have heard there is no Disney+ shows included in the deal.

The general consensus among the insiders seems to be that the deal is for 5/6 movies, three of which will be a new Spider-Man trilogy. It also makes a lot of sense that Marvel will want Holland within The Kang Dynasty and Secret Wars. Ergo, the post above (which is being claimed false) is probably only wrong when it comes to Daredevil: Born Again.
Another back up for this claim is Jeff Sneider on this week’s The Hot Mic. Sneider said he heard the same thing but was waiting for the podcast this week to reveal the news. Now Sneider says he’s not sure if it’s 5 or 6 movies but he has definitely not heard anything about Disney+ appearances being part of the deal.
Lastly we do have one insider who has a good hit rate going against the grain. MTTTSH says the reports of a deal being signed are premature, but that it is coming soon. I have to say I think she may be slightly behind the others on this one, but hey, what do I know?

For now, as always with Barside Buzz, take all this with a chaser of salt. There are still no trades reporting on this deal and this is usually their territory. It may be that Marvel have asked the trades to hold fire until a specific date when this will be announced? The trades usually get rewarded by some exclusive access or interviews for holding a story (that’s what being a trade is). However that would be purely speculative upon my part. I mean we could get something official soon? Or, it may just be that MTTTSH is right, or maybe a deal is agreed but not 100% legal yet?
What I would say though is that these are all good Marvel insiders. Therefore to me, that means a deal is happening. I always figured this would happen, and hoped, so happy days. Another Spider-Man trilogy with Tom Holland in the MCU, thanks very much.
