Yes, folks, there’s no point in skirting around the title of this article so let’s just get right to it. Since Thanos’ demise, fans have wondered who the next big bad of the MCU will be? There remain many candidates for that honor, almost too many to mention. No doubt we’ll get to most of them by the end of this carnival we call the MCU, but who comes next? Today’s rumor doesn’t necessarily answer that question, but it may give us some clues. According to Full Circle Cinema, Kang the Conqueror could be introduced to the MCU in the Loki Disney+ show. Loki is currently filming now, so I guess this is when we would start to hear these kinds of details. It’s also telling that this seems to make sense when you consider the background, however, this remains just a rumor for now.

No one is saying Kang is going to be the next Thanos in the MCU, but he could be. Kang was certainly one of the top contenders to be the next Avengers level threat. It’s probably also the perfect time to introduce this villain with all the time meddling that has gone on recently in the MCU. Loki of course, we know will heavily feature time travel elements, so one wonders if the Time Variance Authority could take notice. Kang was at one point a member and then used his time travel skills to conquer the future. There are also connections with Kang to the Fantastic Four and the Young Avengers. These could be explored further down the track, even if the character gets his intro earlier?
Kang I would say is one of the most interesting villains the Avengers face. He has technology far beyond the capabilities of the MCU era. That makes Kang a suitable threat, requiring a team-up of Marvel’s greatest heroes. Of course, the way the MCU works this could be a one and done type of deal. Marvel Studios don’t exactly always follow the comics. Or it could be seeds planted for a larger threat much farther down the line? All we can say is that Kang would be an intriguing character for Loki, for many reasons.
