Marvel Rumor Roundup: Secret Wars Part 2 Still A Possibility, Plus Doomsday Opening Scene Revealed | Barside Buzz

Post-weekend Marvel Rumor Roundup. Secret Wars Part 2 is still a possibility, plus a description of Doomsday‘s opening scene. As always with rumors, we’re not saying this is 100% accurate. Though I only cover the leakers with the best hits rates, no one is 100%.

Our first rumor is a surprising one that I have my serious doubts on. Ages ago there was a rumor that Avengers: Secret Wars could be split into two films. However, that was before the big Russos announcement about Doomsday and Secret Wars. Ergo, we were all under the logical assumption Secret Wars was just one film.

Cure the latest episode of The Hot Mic and host John Rocha claims,

“My source heard that Doomsday could run for three hours and that it’s huge. They are considering splitting Secret Wars into two parts.”

I always point out that of the two hosts of The Hot Mic, Jeff Sneider is the real insider. Yet, Rocha was himself the first one to get right that Punisher and Hulk would be in Spider-Man: Brand New Day. Therefore, Rocha does have good sources, even if they’re not quite on Sneider’s level.

From a business sense, if there’s enough material Marvel/Disney would be crazy not to consider splitting the one story into tow sets of box office returns. Yet, at the same time, a movie like The Hobbit trilogy was needlessly stretched out to make a trilogy for the worse. I guess we will just have to wait and see if this checks out.

Following this rumor from Rocha, another insider made an additional claim regarding this story. Daniel RPK told his Patreon subs that he’s heard the decision to convert Secret Wars into a two-parter will be dependent on the success of Doomsday.

Frankly, I’m not quite getting how this would make sense? Doomsday is out this December and it’ll be Christmas before we truly know how it’s performing. Secret Wars begins filming this Summer I believe. Ergo, it would be odd to have the majority of principal photography completed before they decide to split it or not.

I’m guessing Secret Wars will end up just one movie. Still, you never know and I doubt anyone would say no, if there’s enough story for two films.

As for post-Secret Wars, MTTSH claims that the Russos may be sticking around this time.

“Feige wants the Russo Brothers to be very involved with the next saga and to direct more films for them, not just Avengers.”

Opening Scene Avengers: Doomsday

Post-weekend Marvel Rumor Roundup. Secret Wars Part 2 is still a possibility, plus a description of Doomsday's opening scene.

Meanwhile, we have another rumor claiming to know the opening scene of Avengers: Doomsday. There is a chance this info has leaked because if you remember last week, John Campea was saying that the opening scene was hype worthy. If it’s the same scene, then MTTSH is willing to give details.

MTTSH says the opening scene is Tobey Maguire’s Spider-Man facing off against the X-Men, probably trying to prevent some sort of incursion that will destroy his planet. A big focus of that fight will be Maguire against Jackman’s Wolverine variant. Remember Maguire and Jackman are heavily rumored to be main leads alongside Tom Holland for Avengers: Secret Wars.

The scooper also says,

Avengers: Doomsday is not only the most epic Avengers movie, but it might be the most epic movie OF ALL TIME. The opening scene alone tops any previous Avengers movie, and the final battle is just INSANE.”

Which is kinda the same thing Campea was saying last week.

So, the Barside Buzz is that Secret Wars Part 2 is still a possibility, plus that rumored opening scene for Doomsday. What do you think of today’s Marvel Rumor Roundup? Thoughts below.
