Marvel Rumored To Be Actively Developing A Nova Movie

It’s going to take some time for us to get a good picture of how the MCU will shape up as it moves past the Infinity Saga, which will ultimately consist of 23 movies after Spider-Man: Far From Home is released this summer. We have had dates for movies announced, but as yet no definitive slate of upcoming movies to speak of. Of course, there are those we kind of know about already like The Eternals, Black Widow, Shang Chi, Doctor Strange 2, and Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3.

This should pretty much wrap up the slate for 2020 and 2021, because we already know, there will only be two Marvel movies in 2020. However, this leaves us with virtually no idea of what could be coming in 2022, which also has three Marvel movies scheduled.

There are a few possibilities to fill those 2022 slots, a rumored Thunderbolts movie, and a Captain Marvel sequel have both seemed like strong possibilities. But we can perhaps add one more movie to that list of contenders. According to MCU Cosmic, they have heard Marvel is actively developing a movie version of Nova. Now, Nova’s origin has pretty much been set up by the events of Infinity War already, Thanos’ destruction of Xandar. In the comics as a last effort, the Nova Corp. channel all their power into one individual who becomes the hero Nova aka Richard Rider.

This caused many to speculate that Nova was coming at some point for well over a year now, but Marvel top man Kevin Feige had made it seem like farther down the line. Feige was previously quoted on Nova, saying that while he is on a board of possible characters, there are others that take higher priority right now. He also confirmed that Nova was in the earliest drafts of the original Guardians of the Galaxy movie. However, that was around a year ago for one thing and secondly, if they are developing Nova, it’s probably just early stages, which makes perfect sense for a movie not scheduled till 2022.

Honestly right now, I am dreaming about a cosmic based team up movies with Thor, Cap Marvel, Nova, and the Guardians somewhere down the line. Also, who knows how The Eternals could factor into things, depending on where their movie goes? That could be an Avengers level team-up movie, which still allows the ‘New Avengers’ to have their own earthly troubles alongside.

I’m excited for the cosmic side of the MCU to kick into high gear, are you, and are you excited to see what Marvel can do with Nova? Sound off in the usual fanboy spot below, where all the cool geeks hang out.
