According to Marvel boss Kevin Feige, The Russo are not directing either Avengers: Kang Dynasty, nor Avengers: Secret Wars. As you probably already know the Phase 5 and partial Phase 6 slate were revealed yesterday at SDCC. So far we know phase 6 has some missing gaps still to be filled in. However the three movies we do know are

However given how vocal the Russos have been about their desire to make Secret Wars, I think many fans just assumed after the announcements that the Russos and their writing partners Markus and McFeeley would return. At least for Secret Wars, if not both Avengers movies. However speaking with Deadline after the event, Kevin Feige confirmed this is not the case.

“They’re not connected to it, they’ve been I think very direct about that. We love them, they love us, we wanna find something to do together, but it’s not this.”
To be fair, I thin the Russos have been clear that they had had no conversations about Secret Wars with Marvel, but that they would be interested. It’s therefore a bit of a shock to say the least. Given how successful both Infinity War and Endgame were, it would have seemed like an easy decision to make. However one assumes Feige has someone else in mind, perhaps there’s a pitch he’s heard already that he wants? It’s not like he has to keep the Russos informed.
Still, I wonder if the brothers will be a bit bummed out by this news? One thing it does do is puts extra pressure on whoever does make Secret Wars to get it right.
What did you think of Marvel’s SDCC announcements? What do you think of the news the Russos not directing Avengers: The Kang Dynasty or Avengers: Secret Wars as per Kevin Feige? As always leave any thoughts below.
