Marvel Studios May Have Picked Their Next Thanos-Level Big Bad For The MCU | LRM’s Barside Buzz

Has Marvel already picked their next Thanos-level big bad for the MCU?

Sometimes I love fans and sometimes I hate them. Sometimes I’m part of what I love and what I hate. On the heels of Avengers: Endgame — a movie I thought was a real crowning achievement — I was in pure adoration of what the Marvel Cinematic Universe had accomplished. And yet, I couldn’t stop myself from looking to the future — from wondering just how in the world they would top this. Yes, they would be extending their reign to television, but beyond that, what could top Thanos?

Who would Marvel Studios be introducing for us to love to hate for an inevitable confrontation in several more phases? More importantly, when would be introduced to them? When would they turn to the camera and give us another Thanos-like grin and give us a sort of hat to hang the future of the MCU on?

Well, it sounds like we could be seeing the character soon…ish. KC Walsh, editor-in-chief of scooping site The Geeks Worldwide has taken to his Twitter to share some news.

“Take this with a grain of salt but I’ve heard from 2 independent sources that the MCU has their next big bad all picked out and has already met with and likely hired the actor.

“Addendum this was something I started hearing before the #Covid situation.”

Okay, so first off, it’s worth noting that the image shared there is none other than Kang the Conqueror. Kang is a galactic-level villain who wants to rule time and space. He also has shown his desire to alter any timeline on a whim. Given that we’re delving into the multiverse with Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness and Loki, this does seem like the natural next step for the MCU, so it’s a great direction to go in.

However, while Walsh stated he has heard from two independent sources, it is quite telling that he hasn’t published it on his own site. Furthermore, the fact that he says to take it with a grain of salt is quite telling. There doesn’t seem to be a lot of confidence in either the idea of Kang or that an actor has potentially been hired.

That being said, the fact that there are these rumblings does at least indicate that we could be seeing Kang sooner rather than later. I would be surprised if we didn’t see him at least once in the next Phase of projects. That being said, I don’t expect us to get to him any time soon. With Thanos, we had to wait a solid decade. So while we may wait just as long to see Kang, I expect, there will be tons more projects leading up to him.

So don’t expect to see much of him for a good, long while.

Do you like the idea of Kang potentially being the next Thanos-level big bad in the MCU? Let us know your thoughts down below!
