The latest Barside Buzz from the folks over at TCC is that Marvel are to make more one-off specials going forward. So far there are only two confirmed Holiday Specials coming. Werewolf by Night is a Halloween Special and Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special speaks for itself. However TCC have heard rumblings that Marvel Studios wants to do more of these one-off Specials, just not necessarily always having to be associated with specific holiday.
Here’s what the outlet had to say.
According to our sources, Marvel Studios is looking into developing more of these types of special presentations down the road. But, unlike Werewolf By Night and the GOTG Holiday Special, these specials are not necessarily tied to particular holidays. The specials will aim to explore stories that can expand the borders of the MCU without having to spread themselves thin with another longer Disney+ series.
Additionally, we’ve heard that some of the titles that have been discussed by various trades and outlets in the past as Disney+ shows are actually being looked into for special presentations. While we don’t have any confirmation as to which titles these could be, a number of candidates could premiere in this format.
The outlet then goes on to speculate on rumored shows in development that might actually be Specials. However, I’ll stick to the rumor itself in this article.

I actually think this is a great idea and potentially away to reduce the strain on introducing new characters. I get the feeling Marvel Studios are spreading themselves too thin. There are 3-5 movies, plus 3-4 TV shows in some years from Marvel. If these Specials were in addition to all that, then I’m not sure I’m up for it. If instead Marvel reduced the number of Disney+ series in favor of 1-2 Specials? I think it would work out a lot better overall personally.
Marvel to make more one-off Specials going forward? What do you think of this idea? Thoughts below as always.
