Marvel To Skip SDCC Hall H This Year!

Marvel boss Kevin Feige coy on X-Men questions, confirms no Star Wars movie and denied discussing returning fallen Avengers recently.

According to a new report from The Wrap, Marvel are to skip SDCC Hall H presentation this year. I have to say this was a rumor I heard from a good source prior, but was not allowed to report it because they were not 100% at the time. However, it now looks like the decision to skip SDCC has been taken in the recent days.

However, for those planning to attend, the outlet says Marvel will still have a presence at SDCC. Just not the usual Hall H big presentation.

‘After making a big splash at Comic-Con in 2022, Marvel Studios will skip Hall H this year, TheWrap has exclusively learned. Marvel will however have a presence on the convention floor.’

In terms of why, I think there are likely several factors in play here. However, the outlet points to the main reason being the ongoing WGA strike and potential of directors and actors strikes happening. Several Marvel productions have already had to shut down, including Daredevil: Born Again and Captain America 4, both deep into principal. Others like Blade or Thunderbolts have had production delayed.

‘The writer’s strike, along with a potential strike by SAG-AFTRA, is making it tough for studios to show up to the annual convention without product and performers to promote their projects. If SAG-AFTRA is unable to reach a deal on a new labor contract and orders a strike, actors would not be able to do any promotional work for their films and TV shows as part of the labor stoppage.’

No writers and no actors mean making any TV shows or movies are pretty tough. It’s looking like a DGA strike might not happen currently, but things could change.

To be fair, Marvel should still be able to show off some trailers for shows and movies we’ve not yet seen. If they are ready in time that is? Echo and Loki Season 2 definitely, but perhaps they could have something ready even from Captain America: Brave New World. However, if your SDCC plans included the Marvel Hall H experience, maybe better wait for next year?

What do you think as Marvel are to skip SDCC Hall H presentation this year? Thoughts below as always.
