In a move that surprises no one, it was announced that the Hulu Marvel live-action series, Helstrom, has been canceled. This comes days after Disney’s investor meeting where they announced plans for ten new Marvel series for their streaming service, Disney+. While Hulu is also owned by Disney, it’s not where they want to feature their Marvel series.
The main reason why this move doesn’t surprise anyone is that it hails from the now-dead Marvel Television. This is not part of Marvel Studios’ TV strategy of series that are part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe that is exclusive to Disney+. But still staying true to their deal, Hulu still has two animated series that seem to be on schedule. This was part of their multi-film deal with Marvel Television.

Marvel’s Helstrom was a ten-part series that followed Daimon and Ana Helstrom. Played by Tom Austen and Sydney Lemmon. They are the son and daughter of a mysterious and powerful serial killer. The series was created and executive produced by Paul Zbyzewski. With Karim Zreik and Jeph Loeb. It was co-produced by Marvel Television and ABC signature studios, part of Disney Studios.
Helstrom was had some high and low moments. I think that the story that they were telling did not require ten episodes. In the later episodes, I really felt like the series dragged on. There wasn’t much for me at the end to be excited for a second season. It also felt out of place with everything else that Marvel Studios is currently working on. I wouldn’t be surprised if the other two animated series also don’t last very long on Hulu.
