A new rumor from Daniel Richtman claims Marvel’s Werewolf by Night Special to be directed by long time Marvel collaborator, composer Michael Giacchino. Giacchino’s work on films scores is something I definitely don’t need to explain. However Giacchino has directed some shorts previously also. If however Giacchino is the director of this upcoming Halloween Special, then it will be the biggest project he has directed to date.
This rumors does have some back up in the form of The Illuminerdi who previously reported they were hearing Giacchino was up for a directing gig at Marvel Studios. You can follow the pattern of all this in these handy Twitter posts below.

This all feels as though it checks out. We know Werewolf by Night is due to film soon and the casting has been going for a while. Possibly signing on Giacchino was the last piece of the puzzle if Richtman’s information is correct? However as always until Marvel announces Giacchino, or a trade, it’s all rumors for now.

If the rumor does turn out to be correct, and if Giacchino nails this, he could get other opportunities on series or movies with Marvel? If so good luck to him. However, Giacchino is also a great composer. I therefore hope that the music side remains his primary focus going forward. It would be a shame to lose Giacchino from that side of the business. I seriously doubt that would happen, but I just wanted to make it clear that I as a fan want him to keep making film scores.
