Mary Poppins Returns Special Look Gives Extra Peek At Whimsical Musical Numbers

Emily Blunt is Mary Poppins in Disney’s MARY POPPINS RETURNS, a sequel to the 1964 MARY POPPINS, which takes audiences on an entirely new adventure with the practically perfect nanny and the Banks family.

Mary Poppins will be headed back to the big screen very soon in Mary Poppins Returns. After decades of being away with her magic bag of tricks, she is returning to London to take care of the Banks kids again — and not just the same ones she took care of last time (though they’ll be there as well).

Disney has released a new Special Look at the colorful musical, and like the original that came before, it looks to be a gorgeous, technicolor-laden adventure, complete with dolphins, animated penguins, and plenty of flying. While it’s doubtful this will live up the original in terms of its iconic nature, it does look to be a fitting film to stand alongside the original, which is all we could ask for, realistically.

Below is the official synopsis for Mary Poppins Returns:

“In Disney’s Mary Poppins Returns, an all new original musical and sequel, Mary Poppins is back to help the next generation of the Banks family find the joy and wonder missing in their lives following a personal loss. Emily Blunt stars as the practically-perfect nanny with unique magical skills who can turn any ordinary task into an unforgettable, fantastic adventure and Lin-Manuel Miranda plays her friend Jack, an optimistic street lamplighter who helps bring light—and life—to the streets of London.”

Mary Poppins Returns dances into theaters on December 19, 2018.
