Sony can’t seem to catch a break. First it delays Uncharted for the millionth time and now it delays Masters of the Universe for the million and first time. That’s right. The film that was most recently set to hit theaters on March 5, 2021 has disappeared from the slate altogether, reports SuperHeroHype. This comes on the heels of Uncharted occupying that very spot.
In fact, like Uncharted, Masters of the Universe has boasted a whole Rolodex of directors including McG. More recently, it was reported that Adam and Aaron Nee would be serving as directors of the projects, with Noah Centineo apparently set to play the beloved He-Man character.

The outlet states the production appears to be “back in limbo.” We have no word on why it got pushed back or whether or not the directors/Centineo are even attached. It seems to be the continuing problems of a neverendingly-troubled development.
While it does appear that the property is gaining momentum on Netflix with the Kevin Smith-created animated series — in addition to CG-animated reboot series — live-action continues to elude them.
We’ll see if Masters of the Universe ever sees the light of day, but perhaps Sony will wait to see how the animated fares are received before continuing on. That’s just speculation on my part though. How do you feel about all this? Let us know your thoughts down below!
