Oh, wow. Just when I think I’m never going to write another piece on Masters of the Universe again, something random just pops out into existence. It’s pretty much up there with The Crow in terms of the number of false starts it’s had. We knew it had a pair of directors attached as well as a couple writers, but I still mostly expected it to fade away into further obscurity.
And yet, in spite of that, here we are with more news. The latest comes courtesy of Production Weekly, who is stating that Sony is set to start filming the movie in Prague this mid-July.

Writing the script for the film are Iron Man and Men In Black: International screenwriters Art Marcum and Matt Holloway, and at the helm are brothers Adam and Aaron Nee, who most recently directed the crime comedy Band of Robbers.
The film, of course, is based on He-Man and the Masters of the Universe toy line from Mattel. It was adapted into a series in the 1980s, where it ran for a couple of seasons. Since then, there have been various offshoots, films, and spin-offs. Most recently, we saw She-Ra and the Princesses of Power hit Netflix, but at every point, an actual modern Masters of the Universe live-action film has eluded us for some time. Is the time for a new film actually fast approaching? It’s very possible.
