Jason Bourne is back, folks, and he looks more badass than ever! The franchise that brought the grounded and gritty aspect to the spy genre will be returning to the big screen this summer, and it’s only a matter of time before they start dropping the big marketing plan on us.

Until then, however, EW has released a new image of Matt Damon as Jason Bourne, wielding a sizable hand cannon in the streets during what appears to be some riot.

Check out the image below!

It’s been quite a while since we’ve seen Bourne on the big screen, and as such, director Paul Greengrass thought it best to hit the ground running, and give the audience a chase scene through a rioting Athens that they won’t soon forget.

“It’s the kind of action sequence you can only see in a Bourne movie,” Greengrass told EW. “It marries action with a really intense, emotionally truthful next chapter in the Jason Bourne story.”

Actor Matt Damon went on to talk about how life has been for both Jason Bourne and Nicky — who is played by Julia Stiles — since the credits rolled in THE BOURNE ULTIMATUM

“Life out in the cold isn’t working for either of them. Nicky uses the riot for cover to meet with him, but she gets followed, and that sets the plot in motion.”

The synopsis for JASON BOURNE is as follows:

“Matt Damon returns to his most iconic role in Jason Bourne. Paul Greengrass, the director of THE BOURNE SUPREMACY and THE BOURNE ULTIMATUM, once again joins Damon for the next chapter of Universal Pictures’ Bourne franchise, which finds the CIA’s most lethal former operative drawn out of the shadows.”

This new film, aptly named JASON BOURNE, also brings back Julia Stiles, and sees Alicia Vikander, Vincent Cassel and Tommy Lee Jones all joining the cast.

JASON BOURNE hits theaters on July 29, 2016.
