Matt Reeves is in talks with DC Studios to produce more spin-off projects from his The Batman movie. As I’m sure you are aware, Reeves already has a deal to write and direct The Batman Part 2. However, I’m sure you are also aware that the first spin-off project, The Penguin, is doing really well with audiences and critics. This TV critic thinks it’s the best show I’ve seen this year. You can check out what I thoughts of the most recent episode in the related section below.
Reeves spoke to The Wrap recently and here is what he had to say.
“I can tell you this, we would love to be able to do more. But I can also say that we are already talking to HBO about [more],” Reeves teased. “The Batman” and its upcoming sequel are so strongly focused on Batman’s point of view, Reeves would love to focus more on the villains. “The opportunity of being able to then on HBO, go and explore characters that wouldn’t be able to have that kind of real estate creatively, as we were able to do with Oz, that is something that we are talking to HBO about,” he explained. “They’re very excited about that idea. That’s something that we really, really hope we’re going to be able to do.”
After a pause, Reeves concluded: “We’ve got ‘The Batman. We’ve got ‘The Penguin.’ And who knows what’s next.”

So far, outside of the now cancelled Arkham Asylum show, there are no rumors of any projects in development. Well, we know that there is another show in development. Something casually mentioned by those involved when The Penguin was premiering. However, what that could be who knows?
I’ve only heard fan wishes rather than legit leaks. A lot of fans would like a Selina Kyle spin-off and some of them seems convinced that’s next. I see no evidence to suggest this is the case, but it is absolutley possible.
I also know some fans after seeing Episode 4 of The Penguin were lamenting the loss of Arkham Asylum. Is it possible the show, which was switched to the DCU before being canned, could come back to the ReevesVerse? I guess we’ll find out.
What do you think as Matt Reeves is in talks to produce more spin-off projects from his The Batman movie? Thought below as always.
