Here’s my The Penguin Episode 6 review and for me Colin Farrell is great this week. As always this is a SPOILER FREE review and as such I won’t be getting into spoiler details. So far the praise from fans on the acting front has been focused on Cristin Milioti as Sofia Falcone and for good reason. However, I think this episode is one that really lets Farrell shine and Sofia takes more of a backseat. I’ll also throw praise the way of Rhenzy Feliz who plays Vic. I’ve spoken before about how interesting it is to watch Vic make all the wrong decisions and fall deeper into trouble. Well there’s plenty to keep us interesting on that front this week.
Farrell gets to show some different sides to Oz this week. There’s the face he shows to his peers and the bravado he wears. However, there’s also a side to him that’s just a confused idiot who fears losing his mother. Gangsters are streetwise, but not intelligent in terms of their knowledge of the world we live in. Farrell shows this acutely and his strengths in life are definitely that gangster life. He struggles when he’s not scheming and betraying other bad guys.
The noose is definitely closing in around all our leads. In some ways Oz is cornered, yet in other ways he’s pulling into the lead. It’s an entertaining and well made story and this week is no different.

I’ll say overall, the pace is a slower this week, it’s not the episode, bar a few moments I’d rave about as best of the series. However, it is still remarkably well made for that period when the show is trying to move towards the big finale. I’d say the shit is about to hit the fan, but to be fair it’s been caked since episode 1.
There seems no doubt Oz makes it through the end of this series, but who else? It would not surprise me at all if it’s none of them. Vengeance begets vengeance begets vengeance and before you know it, it’s last man standing, usually alone.
I’ll also give a shout out to the new super pairing of Clancy Brown and Milioti. The pair have great chemistry together and their hatred for Oz connects them.
Another great episode and still my favourite show of 2024 so far. However, overall not quite as good as the previous two monsters.
