Fans have been waiting for decades for a legit Fantastic Four movie to hit. Sadly, we were saddled with that low-budget unreleased Roger Corman, those awful Tim Story-directed movies, and the well-intended but ultimately boring Fant4stic reboot that hit a few years back. It’s a franchise that’s been deserving of so much more, and fans have been eager to see it done justice in the MCU.

Of course, with the characters now falling under the Marvel Studios umbrella, it’s only a matter of time before that gets made into a reality. But who could actually be the one to do it? While at New York Comic Con, Kingsman helmer Matthew Vaughn expressed his interest.

“Yeah I’ve always loved the idea of doing Fantastic Four as it was originally written,” Vaughn told ComicBook.com. “I mean it’s one of my favorite comics and I actually think that Fantastic Four, as a nice piece of IP, is in theory as big as Spider-Man. I think those, the values of Fantastic Four and Spider-Man, I think those are the reason, if you’re a kid, you can imagine being a part of the Fantastic Four family and you can imagine being Peter Parker. So yeah, I think Fan-Four would be the one that would excite me the most.”

Vaughn is no stranger to tights and capes. Back in 2011, he directed X-Men: First Class, the film that helped put the franchise back on course for a few more years (before it eventually fell off again). If there’s someone who could do something interesting with these characters, it’s Vaughn.

Then again, he’ll be busy for the next couple of years bringing the Kingsman movies to a conclusion (and maybe even expanding the mythology beyond the upcoming prequel) so will he have the time? I’m sure if the story is good enough, he’ll make it.

But what do you think? Do you think Vaughn would make a good Fantastic Four movie? Let us know down below!
