Tonight is the highly anticipated season finale to FX’s Mayans M.C. It has been a wild season that will no doubt have a serious impact on some of our favorite characters going into the fourth season. Well, that is if they survive. The energy of the series has reached a new high especially now that at the helm of the series is co-writer (and now showrunner) Elgin James.
When we kicked off the third season of Mayans M.C., we found EZ Reyes as a full member of the club. Which meant that there was room for a new prospect. Enter Steve, an overweight young man that is desperate for a sense of belonging. He is played by the award-winning Latin-X stand-up comedian Momo Rodriguez. If you haven’t heard his comedy, look it up for a good time.
What is very interesting about his character is that it was created by James specifically for Rodriguez in Mayans M.C. Steve gives viewers an outside point of view of the club, from someone who looks up to them. Throughout the season we see that he isn’t involved in much as prospects are not trusted with much other than cleaning and watching from afar. But then what happens when he is finally thrown into a brawl? What happens when his hand is forced and he needs to do something he can never take back? This is something that is explored in the third season.
