If you follow the Barside Buzz for the MCU then you know imminent delays are expected to be announced for all projects across film and TV. Now after Disney CEO Bob Iger set the scene recently, we have another official sign that delays are coming.
Over on the official Disney website, almost all Marvel shows that previously had dates, or windows, now simply say ‘coming soon’. Unless you think all of this, the rumors, Iger’s recent words about having to cut costs and improve quality, and now this website change are a big coincidence? I can’t see it myself, there’s definitely big delays coming to the entire MCU. It’s honestly now a matter of when and where we will get the official announcements.
On that front, I can’t help. Could it be that all of this gets left as is until the cons begin for the Season. Would you really want Marvel’s big SDCC panel to be the announcement of delays? I’m not sure, but at the same time I am in no way disappointed. For me the MCU as a whole suffered from the increase in projects. To the point were some films and shows have struggled. At the same time it feels like we just keep introducing new players. More importantly, not doing much of anything with them. The team up’s are kinda what makes the MCU fun.

Okay maybe we don’t need an Avengers movie every two years, but we can have smaller team ups prior.
Therefore if these delays help to make each project better and get the MCU back on track, then I’m for them. However if the delays kick in and the quality doesn’t improve? I’m guessing that would continue a downward trend in how much casual interest the MCU holds for audiences. However that all remains to be seen.
The signs and portents are clear folks. Imminent delays to the MCU are coming, it’s now a matter of when we hear some new dates? As always, let us know what you think of all this below.
